Arrest 200 Demonstrators At Pentagon

More than 200 antiwar protesters were arrested at the Pentagon as a planned blockade failed to draw a large crowd. About 1,000 gathered by noon, with roughly 100 moving toward the steps before police on horseback halted the rush. Tear gas dispersed the crowd, and arrests for disorderly conduct followed. Organizers cited lack of crisis atmosphere and fear of confrontation as reasons for the small turnout. The action was sponsored by the Peoples Coalition for Peace and Justice, not NPAC despite erroneous early reports.
