Farmers May Have Less Net Income

Washington AP report from the Agriculture Department notes stronger prices and better income prospects for farmers in the coming months but net farm income for 1971 may be a little below last year's 15.8 billion. Production tapering off and rising demand could lift prices for livestock and products around midyear, while smaller direct government payments offset part of the pickup in market receipts. Net income may stay near the 1970 average due to fewer farm numbers.
