Monroe County Hereford breeders build on 1945 start to herd growth
The TL Jones family of Monroe County near Mexico with 960 acres breeds Herefords since 1945. They dispersed 400 head in December 1969 and plan to expand the herd again. The family holds leadership roles in Missouri Hereford groups with T L as state president and son David as Missouri Junior Hereford Association president. The piece traces Hereford origins in England and early U S imports through 1886, noting a 100 dollar-per-head fee 1886 1893 to curb imports.
