New York Telephone Fires Are Arson Suspects
Fire officials say three of four fires at New York Telephone Co facilities in nine days were set intentionally. The Feb. 28 blaze in a 12 story switching station burned 17 hours, disabling 170000 telephones. Police and fire officials deem the incidents sabotage, not a conspiracy, with possible motive linked to the big fire’s excitement.
