Sudan President orders crackdown on Palestinian guerrillas
KHARTOUM Sudan AP President Jaafar el Numairi ordered a crackdown on Palestinian guerrillas operating in Sudan and began rounding up Sudanese suspected of links to terrorists and spies. He linked the Saudi embassy attack by Black September to a broader effort to destroy Sudan and said eight guerrillas would be tried with destructors and paid agents. A lawyer noted possible extenuating circumstances under Section 249 and warned of potential clemency appeals. Lawyers have volunteered to defend the terrorists and bar association leaders from Algeria and Egypt may join.
