Soybeans Need More Potassium in Missouri Soils
Harold Sterrett highlights Missouri soil tests showing 57 percent of soybean land with less than 200 lbs potash per acre. When potash is low, plant potassium drops, limiting yields. Potash is a cheap, essential nutrient as soybeans command high prices. a 50 bushel crop may remove 180 lbs K2O per acre, four times per bushel versus corn.
