Engineers Abandon Eleven Point Dam Plan amid Opposition
WASHINGTON AP The Corps of Engineers appears to abandon the Eleven Point River dam project in northeast Arkansas due to conservationist opposition. The plan, authorized in 1938 as part of the White River Basin, faced deauthorization among 300 proposed projects nationwide. Also noted: other Missouri and Kansas projects deemed economically unjustified or no longer necessary, with no local interest arousing for the Riverland levee district.
