Washington AP reports Postal Service officials weighing a request for a July 6 rate increase exemption to implement a planned five year sequence. Spokesman Herb Worth says if no extra revenue from users, Congress may provide funds. The increases affect second class and some bulk mail, not first class or airmail, with boosts from under 5 to 33 percent and a home newspaper mailing within a county rising from 1.1 to 1.2 cents. Fourth class books and records would rise to 16 cents per pound initially. Carol E. Cline, Cunningham Road, Drury College senior, makes Dean's Honor Roll.
