Cardinals pound Reds 11-5 as pitching woes keep mounting
St. Louis overwhelmed Cincinnati 11-5 Tuesday after four more Reds hurlers were used. Joe Torre and Ted Simmons each drove in three runs, Simmons homered, Reggie Cleveland earned his sixth win with a two run single, and Red Schoendienst blamed overworked pitchers for the skid. Reds captain Pete Rose noted balls caroming off the left field wall as Cincinnati dropped four of six. Grimsley took the loss, his first in seven against the Cardinals.
