Tourism Center Location Disputed in Missouri Senate
In Jefferson City, a Senate floor clash over where to place a southeast Missouri tourism information center led Sen. Albert Spradling to amend a capital improvements bill to fund the center within an 80,000 plan along I-55 between Cape Girardeau and the Arkansas line instead of Pemiscot County as originally proposed. The Tourism Commission would decide the site, not a single county, and the amendment passed on a voice vote before the bill was set aside for later care.
