Audrain County welfare director Lewis DeHart says the food stamp program, likely starting Aug 1, will reach more families than the current commodity foods plan. Stamps vary by income and family size, with examples showing substantial monthly benefits for households of five and single individuals. The program can be activated during emergencies and aims to extend aid to non recipients, though some volunteers caution about nutrition and usage.
