Kevin Duncan nine of 1002 Mansfield Mexico takes third place in the fifth annual U-Haul U-Color contest. He receives a parchment certificate of excellence. The event invites children of U-Haul dealers employees and friends to color a cartoon and sketch ideas for a new do it yourself moving product.
State Treasurer James I. Spainhower announced four Audrain County banks will receive 705000 from Missouri Model for the Investment of Inactive Funds. Laddonia State Bank gets 150000, Martinsburg Bank 125000, Commerce Bank of Mexico 250000, Vandalia State Bank 180000.
Elizabeth Wainscott and Sidney Stephens received 35 year service honors at A B Chance Company in mid July, bringing active Centralia staff in the award group to twelve. Stephens, a senior technician in underground switchgear, and Wainscott, a foundry inspector, began at Chance during World War II and spoke of varied, satisfying work and good pay.
