Joke Job Lasts 45 Years on the Peninsula

Clarence Hynes, 64, began as a streetcar driver with Peninsula Railway Co. in San Jose as a gag at age 19. He later worked 45 years on the San Francisco Peninsula driving electric streetcars and motorized buses, tallying more than a million miles before moving to the San Mateo Sanitary District.
