Bond Residency Suit Stirs Missouri Governor Bid
Rep. R J King filed a suit in the Missouri Supreme Court challenging state auditor and GOP candidate Christopher Et Bond’s residency for governor eligibility. The case cites affidavits showing Bond claimed Georgia residency in 1964 to take a bar exam and notes past Missouri tax exemptions tied to nonresidency claims. AP report notes Attorney General Danforth says Missouri voters must meet residency standards for both primaries and general elections. He asserts 28 day residence in state bars voting, and that 60 day county or city residency and one year in state are invalid. The ruling aligns with Missouri Supreme Court age decisions for primaries and covers non registered elector scenarios.
