Resignation Clouds Future of Committee
Washington report on the House committee probe into alleged South Korean influence in Congress. Chief investigator Philip A. Lacovara resigns after a clash with Chairman John J. Flynt Jr. The move sparks fear the inquiry may suffer credibility and pace. Some call for a special prosecutor, others expect a new lawyer to take over. Lacovara cites lost mutual trust as his reason, disputing the notion the probe lacks faith in the committee. He resigns while abroad on vacation.
