Ben Barnes First Landmark Photographer in Audrain County
Audrain County Historical Society recognizes Ben Barnes of Mexico as the county’s first landmark photographer for his historical images. A notable photo in the museum shows the Mouth of Littleby where Salt River meets Littleby Creek near Mexico, near a limestone bluff and bridge. The article notes the area as the 1816 cabin site of pioneer Robert Littleby, who lived there until 1822 and hunted to survive before later moving to Platte City. Memorials are noted for Robert Ollis and Rolla McIntire, and a new member, Miss Mary Hamilton, joins the society.
