Nine lobbyists charged in Missouri enforcement move
Jefferson City AP Nine people faced criminal misdemeanor charges for alleged violations of Missouri lobbying law in the first enforcement push since its 1965 enactment. Complaints were filed in magistrate court by Cole County Prosecutor Vernon Dandy as the state tallies noncompliant reports covering June and March. Officials note many lobbyists failed to file or terminated status reports, with some earlier advised by letters and others still out of state. Expenditures total about 321000 for the 66 day session, with entertainment exceeding 128000 paid to lawmakers. Several organizations listed had not filed required status changes, prompting questions about compliance and enforcement.
