Medicaid Slips Shown In Iowa Study
A federal audit cautions Iowa medicaid may have denied skilled nursing care unfairly and that drug charges could have exceeded legitimate costs by as much as 1.2 billion cents. The study links improper appeals procedures and Blue Cross cost practices to a sharp drop in nursing care recipients from 1,891 in March 1969 to 204 by June 1970.
