Monroe Quits Free Food Again in Missouri County
In Monroe County the free food commodity program faces discontinuation due to funding gaps. The county seeks full funding from federal and state sources, with the 50 50 arrangement continuing only if full costs can be covered. The county clerk notes other counties receive 100 percent reimbursement, prompting plans to halt the program pending federal approval. The turn includes the resignation of commodity food supervisor Barbara Walker and local government appeals to federal officials.
