National Commission For the Restoration of
Health Security Program For All Americans Urged
Washington AP reports a citizens committee proposes a nationwide health security plan funded like Social Security. It would cover doctors, hospital care, nursing homes, psychiatric services, drugs, and eventually dental care for all, financed by federal taxes and employer and employee contributions. The group, led by Leonard Woodcock, cites insecurity from the health crisis and aims to provide high quality care to all without government control of hospitals or employment of health professionals.
