Cards Obtain Nagy From Boston Red Sox
The Cardinals acquired right handed pitcher Mike Nagy on Thursday from the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox will receive a player to be named later. Nagy, 24, from the Bronx, signed in 1966 and stood 6-3, 200 pounds. He went 13-9 in three minor league seasons before Boston promoted him in 1968, posting a 12-2 record with a 3.11 ERA that year and finishing runner up for AL Rookie of the Year in 1969. Military service and marriage delayed his 1970 start and he never regained his 1969 form.
