Seminoles Agree To Sell Florida For 16 Million
Hollywood AP report says about 300 Seminole members voted to accept a 16 million dollar federal compensation for 32 million acres of Florida land including Miami Beach Disney World and Cape Canaveral. The deal ends decades of legal battles since 1949 and values land at roughly 50 cents an acre despite earlier appraisals of three cents to 2.50. Chief Howard Tommie notes the offer avoids future unresolved claims and preserves funds for the tribe.

Pill Use Linked to Gall Bladder Disease Risks
Boston AP report cites New England Journal of Medicine findings that oral contraceptives raise gall bladder bile cholesterol, potentially increasing gallstone risk. Study of white and American Indian women in Phoenix shows significant cholesterol saturation rises during pill use, with possible effects from liver cholesterol secretion and bile acid reduction. Researchers Benson, Ginsberg, Garnick, and Bennett note estrogen and progestin roles and urge doctors to consider gallbladder cholesterol increases as a possible pill side effect.

Township Name Not Needed On: Income Tax Form
Audraifi County residents and nearby counties are advised not to fill the township field on federal tax returns. The 1975 form asks for city, county, state, and township, but only 24 Missouri counties with township governments must complete that block, per IRS district director Richard C. Voskuil. No Ledgerland counties are among them.
