Mail Fraud Charges on Magazines

Cowles Communications and five subsidiaries agreed to a permanent injunction barring fraudulent magazine subscription practices. The five subsidiaries pleaded no contest to mail fraud and were fined a total of $50,000 in U.S. District Court in Des Moines, Iowa. The civil suit seeks to stop the allegedly deceptive sales by dealers nationwide.
