Realism In 1977 Budget Outlined By Ford Aide
Budget Director James T. Lynn says the 1977 budget will separate affordable from desirable goals and aims for balance within three years. The plan, totaling nearly 395 billion dollars with a deficit around 40 billion, includes a 10 billion tax cut and fewer federal workers, plus incentives to spur private investment and jobs. Defense spending may rise above 101 billion dollars, and health programs may be turned over to states including Medicaid funds.
