A jumble of crossword hints and garbled letters appears on a damaged page with clues such as Leah's sister and Sun god. The fragmentary list includes terms like Harass and Diets while stray letters and stray words mix with partial numbers and foreign-looking strings, suggesting a torn puzzle grid and partial entries.

State Prisons Overcrowded Warns Missouri Corrections Chief

Acting director Haynes told the Senate Appropriations Committee that Missouri state prisons are overcrowded with 4,707 inmates in seven facilities, above a 3,420 program capacity, and projected to exceed 5,000 by February or March. He requested 34.7 million dollars for the department, while the governor recommended 27.8 million. Priorities include halfway houses and short term housing for 1,025 inmates, with potential use of vacant military facilities and churches to relieve crowding. Federal manpower funds for 42 officers at the penitentiary expire June 30, risking salaries funded from state general revenue.
