Paris Monroe County Welfare Director Bill Mosley spoke to the Optimist club at the Mark Twain Cafe. The group announced the Boy Scouts fund drive goal of 1400 was reached and progress on a Merry-go-round project will see use next summer. Plans for 1973 include farming, oratorical contests and a talent show.

The session at the Holiday Inn Kansas City will also review an enforcement survey from the Joplin area, postponed from December 10 due to a statewide ice storm.
Bishop Michael F. McAuliffe announced a new pastor assignment effective January 15. Rev. Patrick Duggan, administrator at St. Alexander's in Belle, will replace Rev. Raymond W. Rau, who becomes pastor at St. Anthony Church in Rosati. Rev. Henry J. Figge moves from Visitation church in Vienna to Immaculate Conception Church in Owensville.
