Missouri seeks emergency feed aid for nine drought counties
Jefferson City AP report notes nine Missouri counties would join 70 already eligible for transportation aid if the request for emergency feed assistance is approved. Agriculture official J W Abbott warns that without aid, farmers face further herd dispersal and potential closures. The program would grant up to two cents per pound of grain up to half the cost, administered by the federal disaster aid office and USDA.
