In New York City St James on Madison Avenue ordained 31 year old Carol Anderson the first woman Episcopal priest in the city and third in the nation The 1000 strong congregation roared approval as Anderson raised from deacon and assistant minister to priesthood The event follows earlier ordinations in Indianapolis and Alexandria and a Minneapolis church convention that advanced Episcopal women’s priesthood rights.
