Prison escape attempt foiled at Buchanan County Jail
A Lincoln Nebraska man James Beardsley 22 and Clarence Hunter 20 of Kansas City were thwarted Sunday night when jail officials refused to open a cell door amid a bid to free eight prisoners. Deputy Steve Fine was assaulted and Corporal Rosenhauer fired a warning shot. neither officer was seriously hurt. Beardsley previously sparked a 22 hour chase after kidnapping two women from a bus station. Beardsley and his brother remain jailed on bonds. Hunter and others linked to a Park Bank robbery are also detained.
