Paris Jaycee ettes announce ROMAN HOLIDAY at Paris High School on March 30 to select Miss Paris 1971. Mrs. Roy Jones chairs the event with eligibility for any attendee from Paris High. Judges will rate poise beauty and personality.
Santa Fe hosts a cooked food and white elephant sale from 10 am to 4 pm at the Community Center to aid cancer, Red Cross, March of Dimes and the Heart Fund. The event is organized by Mrs. Eugene Sharp and supported by local residents and groups.
Laddonia Mayor S R Garnett presided a Community Building meeting with George McKay Rogers Co. of Fostoria Ohio. A non profit was formed to organize a town centennial with officers S R Garnett president John Folta Jr vice president Mrs Joe Teague secretary. A survey committee includes Joe Teague Gordon Campbell Robert Smith. An upcoming meeting was slated as officers and survey committee met with McKay to complete the survey.
Wellsville-Middletown R-1 officials answered questions at a PTA meeting. Supt. Carroll Clithero, Principal Jerol Laughlin, and Principal Sarah Gearhart discussed bus behavior, overnight visits, bathroom cleanliness, outdoor recess, milk timing, dress code costs, and eighth grade electives. The event stressed contacting teachers and administrators with concerns. A lifetime membership was awarded to Miss Hallie Penn for Founder's Day.
Van-Far R-1 Board rehired L L Mc Donnold principal R C Ledbetter and Ronald Stallcup for one year at current pay. Superintendent William Young to lead April 6 election. Levy on ballot discussed. filing dates March 1 8am to March 11 8pm for board seats. Terms expiring B C Smith T J Omohundro and Paul Gore. January receipts 367 948.25 February expenditures 67 596.57.
Dr. Thomas R. Jobe Jr., D. D., leases the Montgomery Medical Center in Montgomery City and will begin practice in July. A 1970 Kirksville College of Osteopathy graduate, he is interning at Memorial Hospital in York Pennsylvania. He grew up in north Missouri near Lucerne, is a 1959 Newton High School graduate, and earned a 1969 degree in zoology with a chemistry minor from Northeast Missouri State College in Kirksville. He served four years in the U S Navy and belongs to Sigma Sigma Phi, the Missouri Osteopathic Association, and the American Osteopathic Association. He will reside in Montgomery City.
Martinsburg hosts a card party to benefit the Montgomery County Heart Fund drive at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The event starts at 7 30 p m and all proceeds go to the Heart Fund.
