Sheltered Workshop Plan Urged by Kiwanis Leader
Fred Lierheimer urged the Kiwanis Club to support a local sheltered workshop under State Board of Education guidelines. He said the program would provide jobs for about 70 area residents aged 16 to 69, paying $1.60 an hour and reinvesting all money locally. A 15-member civic board is to coordinate efforts and the work is framed as therapy and employment rather than welfare.
