The Senate Finance Committee approves 11 to 0 the nomination of former Texas Gov John B Connally as secretary of the Treasury after he denies violating laws by accepting fees tied to the Sid Richardson estate and says he gave up 400000 to 500000 in legal fees to become Navy secretary in 1961.
