Weicker Challenges Nixon Gift Deduction Records
Sen. Lowell P. Weicker Jr. released a 11 page memorandum with 26 documents contending Nixon’s $570000 prepresidential papers gift to the National Archives fails to meet tax law requirements. Weicker argues delivery and dominion conditions were not satisfied before the 1969 deadline and questions the White House defense. The IRS will review the materials, while Nixon backs the deduction and agrees to IRS and congressional reviews.
