George Allens Honored on 50th Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. George Duey Allen of Mexico celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a Sunday afternoon party in the Mexico United Church educational building. More than 135 friends and relatives from Paris, Centralia, Wellsville, St. Charles, Thompson, Fulton, Indianapolis, and Mexico attended. The couple, married December 4, 1920, previously lived with the Roberson family and have 17 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Their son Roger Kilby flew from Venice, Florida, to join relatives in Laddonia and Vandalia for the celebration. The couple wed December 2, 1920, at the Bowling Green Christian Church, and Kilby later served as Vandalia mayor and longtime rural letter carrier.
