Baby Dies In Gas Explosion In Springfield Home
A six month old boy, Steven Wake, died from burns after a natural gas explosion in a family room addition in Springfield. Investigators said gas leaked from flexible tubing feeding a room heater and ignited the accumulated gas. The infant’s two-year-old brother William was in serious condition and their mother Donna Wake suffered minor injuries.

Million Dollar Settlement For Tire Explosion Injury
Kansas City AP reports Larry Messick of Eldorado Springs received a $1 million settlement from Goodyear in a federal suit over injuries suffered in 1972 when a tire he was mounting exploded. Messick, 31, sustained brain damage, partial blindness in one eye, a skull fracture and facial injuries. The case is described as the largest personal injury settlement in the federal court local area.

Dr Kelseys Murder Case Goes To Jury In Missouri
The Lawrence County Circuit Court trial of Dr Kenneth L Kelsey 60 of Shell Knob for second degree murder in the February 11 shooting death of Cynthia Jane Hall at Vera Ford’s Aurora home goes to the jury. Kelsey testified ownership of the gun and proximity to the scene while denying firing the fatal shot, noting the pistol had been replaced in his desk days after the death. He acknowledged dating Mrs Ford but asked to disregard a questioned line about it. John Snow, a private investigator, testified about testing the weapon’s firing for safety considerations.
