GM eyes whisper quiet Vega with Wankel rotary engine
GM announced the Wankel rotary engine may be offered as an option in the Vega within about two years. The design uses triangular rotors in an elliptical chamber, reducing size and weight and enabling low octane fuel use with fewer moving parts. GM recently paid NSU 50 million dollars to study and manufacture the engine.

Stray dogs inherit $14 million estate in Broward County
In Broward County Court the will of Eleanor Ritchey was settled after years of dispute. Eighty one stray dogs tied to Ritchey inherited about $14 million from a 4.5 million estate, later valued near $18 million, with funds from Quaker State stock. The dogs, now housed on a 180 acre Deerfield Beach ranch, are insured by a modern clinic and receive annual food and medical care. The bequest lasts until the last dog dies or 20 years, then the remainder goes to Auburn University for small animal disease research. Relatives had opposed Ritchey over lawsuits and barking complaints in 1967.
