Martinsburg Picnic winners flood list of contests
Martinsburg saw 127 winners in contests at the city park picnic last Friday night. Highlights include greased pig and various age group wins with names such as Rennie Folta Mark Davis Phil Gastler Linda Arens Craig Fennewald and Jeff Camp among many others. Other events included old fiddlers dance waltz contest candy estimating prettiest babies and parade entries with multiple winners listed. Continued on Page 8.

Wellsville Rodeo Opens Tonight at Wellsville
The third annual Wellsville Rodeo opens tonight with six events nightly and purses totaling 780 dollars. The rodeo queen will be crowned Saturday. the event runs through Friday and Saturday with Jaycees sponsoring.

Centralia Promotion Day Set at First Christian Church
Promotion Sunday will be held at the First Christian Church in Centralia during the church school hour. A Service of Dedication for the Church School Teachers will precede the morning worship. Chi Rho elected new officers after last Sunday's meeting. Cheryl Burnett is president and Dana Dick is secretary. The in-coming seventh graders were welcomed as new members. Next meeting is September 12 at the church.

Holliday C 2 Elementary will open Monday August 30 with all day sessions and an expected enrollment of 116. Faculty includes Mrs Howe as principal and teachers for grades 1 through 8. Bus drivers are Ralph Howe Delbert Secoy and Leon Freeman. Lunchroom staff are Mrs Clay and Mrs Ensor. Custodians are Mr and Mrs Dickerson. Also notes on local civic drive, a Paris educator’s MA degree, cataract surgery, and various community activities including a teen dance and county fair exhibits.
