Two Ham Operators Forge Ties Across Oceans
The Albert Aulbur and Erich Stoess families, both ham radio enthusiasts, deepened a friendship started by radio contact in 1967. Albert Aulbur and his wife visited Offenburg Germany July 18 to Aug 14, while the Stoesses stayed in Farmington and Martinsburg, sharing language skills and plans to travel Europe. Stoess, a retired high school math and physics teacher, has ham radio roots since 1950 and once spoke with King Hussein of Jordan in 1971, a mobile operation he recalls with pride.
