The drought stricken western forests faced renewed fires over the weekend as the Marble Cone blaze on California's central coast remained the major challenge. About 10,000 personnel were engaged in fighting fires across California, with scores of fires reported this summer.
Over a weekend in Missouri eleven people died in crashes across multiple counties. In St Louis County six residents perished with ages and locations including John Sulze 24 Mehlville on Interstate 55, Jeffrey Summers 20 Chesterfield, and Charles Hercules 37 Medli lle on Missouri 94. Other victims on Saturday and Sunday included Gregory Meier 166 Manchester Donald Black 18 St Louis Gertrude Herwig 64 St Louis William Hawley 43 Jefferson City Leroy Craig 24 Springfield and Raymond Wade Jr 38 Liberty. Fire updates and forest fires dominated western states with Deep Creek Brook Creek Meadow Creek Green Buttes and Shellock Chick Two incidents mentioned. A Ledger Want Ad ends the piece.
