Reminiscence of the old Mexico shoe factory era
Nell Sheed recalls working at the Friedman Shelby Shoe factory in Mexico starting in 1909, recalling arrival as a green 18 year old, the friendly foremen and workers, a harsh January snow drift, and daily duties from labeling boxes to sewing linings. She mentions coworkers, the Morris brothers, and shared rooms with Mrs. Effie Garrett’s family, ending with vivid memories of the factory life.
