4 H Promises Enrichment For Both Urban And Rural
By Clemie Moody area youth specialist the 4 H program in Missouri began as corn clubs for boys and tomato projects for girls and grew through extension work. It aimed to teach practical farming methods and responsibility at home linking youth to their families and communities. Urban growth followed post 1950, with 38 000 4 H members statewide and 507 in Audrain County. Any interested youth may join by contacting the county 4 H council president or the University of Missouri Extension Center.
