Mrs. Eugene Levingston of Route 1 Mexico announces the engagement of Sallee Levingston to Stan Eugene Lauer. The wedding is planned for October at Centennial Baptist Church. Also invites issued for Debra Creed and James Carleo of Pueblo Calo with a August wedding at Holy Family Church in Pueblo.
Mrs Jean Schafer daughter of Mr and Mrs Paul Schafer was honored at a Martinsburg Knights of Columbus Hall shower. Hostesses included Mrs Susan Aulbur Miss Carol Arendall Miss Rita Rabbert and Miss Millie Ecke. Jean to wed William Rabnett August 13 with family and guests at the event.
Saturday buffet dinner at Mexico Country Club at 7 30 p m followed by a dance 8 30 to 11 30 p m. Sunday Dye School Reunion with basket luncheon at 12 30 p m at Dye Schoolhouse. Monday Pride of the Host CBS at 7 30 p m Garfield Community Center plus club activities 1 to 4 30 p m in the Courthouse Community Room European Slides program featuring Miss Martha Tuepker and Frank Kent.
At the August Moose Women meeting 13 members voted to donate 25 to the Kate Smith Memorial Furnishing Fund with executive committee approval. Senior Regent Mrs. Atha Eastin led the WOM in charge at the Moose Home as they discussed the upcoming WOM conference at Hannibal Moose Home on Friday Aug 13 with several Mexico chapter attendees. A ritual practice followed the dinner with Mrs. Eastin again in charge. Guests included Mrs. Jack Thompson Mrs. Bob Griffith Bob McGee Alycia McGee Darryl Cole Bill Sayers and Robert Poague.
Auxvasse Clayton Hook spoke on the History of Auxvasse at the Auxvasse Happy Homemakers meeting held in the community hall. Mrs Nola Cooper and Mrs Clayton Mock hosted. Ed Lee led the business session. devotion by Mira Richard Coil. Fall War Eagle tour discussed. Prizes awarded to several members.
Douglas Eugene Kuder, age two on Aug. 9, honors grandparents Gene Lierly, Maxine Lierly, Donald Kuder, Kathleen Wolfe, great grandparents Hurlie Lierly, George Kutler, Elsie Curlis. Greg M. Mr and Mrs J W Clement of Wellsville announce the engagement of their daughter Neva Clement to James Bishop son of Mr and Mrs Claude Bishop of Wellsville The wedding is set for September 18 at the Wellsville United Methodist Presbyterian Church Miss Clement is a graduate of Wellsville Middletown R 1 High School and is employed at Wal Mart in Mexico Mr Bishop works for Central Auto Parts Company of Wellsville
Mr and Mrs Marcus Coffland of Montgomery City announce the betrothal of their daughter Marilyn Coffland to Bill Adams Jr son of Mr and Mrs Bill Adams Sr of Bellflower A June wedding is planned Marilyn will enter the University of Missouri Columbia School of Nursing as a freshman this fall Bill Adams Jr is a sophomore at Northeast Missouri State College Kirksville
Local artists are invited by Mrs. J. R. Allen from Audrain County to enter the nationwide contest for the 1973 Christmas Seal design. A $1,000 prize will go to the winner whose design funds efforts against respiratory diseases and air pollution. Deadline is September 15, 1971. entries and rules are available from the local TBRD Association at 911 Locust Street, St. Louis.
Mr. and Mrs. John Marshall of 609 Promenade St celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary with a Lakeview Park picnic hosted by their daughter Mrs. Virgil Thurston. The Marshalls, who wed Aug 5 1916 in Fulton, later moved to Mexico in 1924 and settled in their current community. They have a son John R. Marshall of Mansfield and multiple grandchildren. Also honored were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence R. Platte on their 26th anniversary. Relatives and friends attended.
Miss Linda Kay Saucier of Canton Missouri engaged to Stephen Dale Lage of Bloomington Illinois. Both families name education and work details with company and college affiliations. couple plans a late summer wedding.
Mrs L M White hosted the Fortnightly and TrHl bridge clubs at Mexico Country Club with high scores by Mrs J F Brown and Mrs Ed Gamble. Guests included Mrs John Kirk of Memphis and Miss Marjorie Barnes. The 4 H Fair August 10-11 dominated Prairie Dale Helpers meeting as Delbert Healy led discussion and Bobby Stanford spoke on safety. Gaither Berry Jr and wife hosted 14 members and 11 guests.
Cedar Grove Extension Club member Mrs. James Woolfolk spoke Wednesday afternoon about her experiences as a delegate to the 4 H Leaders Forum in Washington DC March 22 27. She used slides to show the forum to the group at the home of Mrs Emil Hubert Route 3 Mexico. Woolfolk was among two Audrain County delegates in a Missouri group of 35 including Mrs Walter Petersen who attended the July County.
Happy House invites parents of 45 children at its Mexico Community Summer Day Camp to a carry-in dinner at St Matthew's Episcopal Church Parish House. The event at 6 p.m. showcases crafts, discusses moving from EF Promenade Street to 1500 N Wade Street, and lists committee members and organizers.
