Gasoline surplus triggers price cuts across Kansas region
A four state gasoline surplus, led by Kansas and Missouri, spurs price cuts and a one month shutdown at a Kansas refinery to reduce inventories. FEA officials note supply up due to earlier embargo lift, with price wars seen in Joplin and across Kansas City, Wichita, Omaha, and Des Moines. Amoco reports dealers cutting prices with no government subsidies. Experts foresee summer demand from farmers and tourists reducing excess stocks.
