Dual UN Seats for Chinas Vietnams Koreas Proposed
A presidential commission urged the Nixon administration to seek United Nations seats for the People's Republic of China and Republic of China on Taiwan, arguing two seats for rival governments in China and other states could reflect governing reality. The plan envisions open U.N. forums and includes mainland China and Taiwan among others, noting potential awkwardness but possible gains in peace through engagement.

Draft System Must Be Kept Says Official
ST LOUIS AP Attainment of a volunteer army would not eliminate the need for maintenance of the draft system, the military branch's assistant secretary Robert L Johnson said Monday. Even if we did reach zero draft by 1973 continuing selective service machinery is essential to guarantee. The goal of a volunteer army will be hard to reach until the army changes its regulations and image, Johnson said. He added that improving the image would involve soldier privacy and lighter duties such as painting living areas and removing unsoldierly tasks like lawn mowing and KP. Johnson spoke in St Louis to American Ordinance Association members and guests.
