Turn Over Tapes Ford Urges Nixon Turn Over Tapes
Vice President Ford urged Nixon to turn over within 48 to 72 hours all materials sought by the House Judiciary Committee for its impeachment probe. A subpoena requires tapes and documents from 42 Watergate White House conversations by 10 a.m. Thursday. Ford spoke at the AP meeting in New York saying Nixon should cooperate fully to clear up the Watergate affair. He noted Nixon knew nothing in advance of the 1972 break in and bugging and urged a maximum cooperative response. Rodino Jr. said anything less than full compliance could be grounds for impeachment.
