Monroe Flood Tops County History In Paris Missouri
PARIS MO -- Mayor Caskie Painter said Monroe County faces emergency disaster aid as Paris endures the worst flood in memory after nine inches of rain. The river reached 33 feet, flooding lowlands, isolating the town, and washing out bridges and roads. Residents aided by volunteers, while the city seeks state aid and funds for private property damage and sandbagging efforts.

Dean Ready To Name Others
Washington AP reports White House Counsel John W Dean III intends to implicate other aides in Watergate. The Washington Post cites staffers saying Nixon was told by aides that Mitchell and Dean were involved in wiretapping and coverup. Mitchell testified last week to a grand jury about tapping plans. Dean attended early meetings with Mitchell and Magruder. Liddy refuses to speak to the grand jury, possibly shielding Mitchell. Colson says he had no involvement, contradicting a Times report. Kleindienst may resign after investigations.
