Young campus voters favor liberal candidates in primaries
A four-state AP survey shows college students lean liberal in early presidential primaries while nonstudents vote with parents. McGovern led in campus precincts near Illinois universities and Dartmouth while Florida State University precincts favored McGovern modestly. Muskie and McCloskey trailed. The broader youth vote skewed nonstudents toward nonliberal blocs.
