Mexico City's 1975-76 Budget Surges 16 Percent

Mexico's record city budget for 1975-76 climbs 16 percent over 1974-75 to 2,351,877 while holding the $1.80 tax rate. The boost comes mainly from a $526,000 Community Development Program grant approved by the Housing and Community Development Dept. Revenue sharing drops slightly this year due to prior year savings and revised forecasts. Major spending rises occur in public safety, public works, refuse collection, and the new economic development department, with employment raises planned for city staff.
