Nixon Tells Congress He Has Fixed End Date For Indochina War

Senate leaders report President Nixon told them he has a fixed date to end U S involvement in Indochina within his term ending January 20 1973 but did not specify the date. He urged accountability in the November 1972 election and suggested a possible end date though no Korean style residual force is planned. Responding critics urged faster withdrawal while some soldiers in Vietnam voiced mixed views on immediate pullout versus continued South Vietnamese fighting.
