Bond Vetoes Zero Base Budget Bill and Funds
Gov. Christopher Bond used his veto power to strike the zero base budgeting bill and cut nearly 2 million from the emergency appropriations for metropolitan storm water and sewer projects in outstate Missouri. He argued the measure has too many legal details and lacks necessary cost accounting while proposing his version including legislative and judicial branches. Senate sponsor says a veto override may not have enough votes. the House and Senate previously approved the bill by large margins. Bond also removed the words west side from a 1.1 million appropriation to repurpose funds for other work.
